27th Annual “Lets Be Family” Thanksgiving
What is, “Let’s Be Family?” We started “Let’s Be Family” as a way to reach out to a few widows and college students who didn’t have anyone to spend Thanksgiving with. After a few years we decided there were probably more people who needed or wanted a place to go for Thanksgiving. That is when we moved it to the church. So…anyone who might not have a family coming in or isn’t able to go to their family is welcome to come. However, it’s not just for those people. If you would like the opportunity to share with others who are away from their family, you are also welcome to bring your family and join us. In essence, everyone is welcomed.
We meet in the Teen Building on Thanksgiving Day (November 22nd). We are at the church by 10:00 am and we eat around 12:30pm. So feel free to come early if you like. Turkey, dressing, gravy and drinks are provided. If you are able, please bring a side dish and/or dessert.
There is a sign-up sheet on the Hostess table. So if you know you are coming, please sign up so that we have a general idea of how many to plan for. But, even if you don’t know till the last minute or aren’t able to bring anything, YOU ARE STILL WELCOME! There is always plenty for everyone. If you have questions please see Carolyn or Kenny Daily or call 620-251-7430 or 620-515-4708.

Around the World in 80 Seconds
This month’s focus is on Emrys and Usha Rees. They have served in southern India for several decades in a hospital for HIV and leprosy patients. Emrys preaches, equips pastors, trains leaders and works with college students. Usha gives bible studies to women, works with children and youth, and does a lot of administrative work. They are hoping to build a place where they can house and disciple college students at a nearby university, as well as build a meeting place for the work they do with children infected by HIV. India is home to 1/5 of the world’s population. It is predominantly Hindu, and in recent years, there has been significant persecution from extremists against Muslims and Christians. Please pray for Emrys and Usha, that God would keep them healthy and effective in their service, for their dreams of having a center for college students and for boldness to proclaim the lordship of Christ in a hostile environment.
