Trunk or Treat
We will have Trunk or Treat Wednesday, October 31st from 6:00-7:30pm in the west parking lot. We need 40 trunks this year full of treats for this special activity! We need 12 people to help cook, serve, clean tables, take out trash, etc. Most of all we need lots and lots of candy for the trunks. You can help by bringing candy and put it in the blue tub in the main entrance or if you want to donate money to buy candy from retail stores, see Jeff or Joyce. Please invite your friends and neighbors who have children to come to this event. In case of rain it will be moved inside with those who signed up for trunks handing out the prizes and candy. The sign-up sheet will be located in the foyer on the trunk or treat table.
We will meet on October 10th for our noon luncheon. Bring a covered dish or a casserole and a friend and come enjoy this fun time! JOY Group is for everyone 55 and older.
Show your team spirit on Sunday night the 7th of October at 5:00pm. For Tailgate this year we foresee a parking lot full of everyone’s favorite sports teams. A line of tents and trucks decked out with Chiefs red and yellow, OSU orange, Coffeyville purple, etc. The meat and drinks will be provided. Please bring a side dish, your lawn chair, and wear your favorite team’s jersey or colors. The purpose is for you to invite people who are not connected with our church. So do you have a bunch of K-State fans or Caney fanatics at work? Invite them. If you enjoy cooking for others or want to set up a tent or bring a vehicle decked out in your favorite teams gear sign up at tyrochristian.org

A Big Thank You to our Car Show Committee
We want to thank all who volunteered to help with this year’s car show and loving the Lord enough to sacrifice your time to volunteer. We had rain off and on during the day but we still had 182 registered participants attending. We have had several comments on how welcome and friendly those attending the show felt at TCC. The vision of this church “Relentlessly Pursuing People for Jesus” is exactly what was displayed at the Car Show. This is a unique way for us to encourage people to become faithful in their walk with Christ. It not only reaches the participants but all who attend the show.
We estimate that we had at least 20% new participants this year, which means we reached new people for Christ. The auditorium was packed at trophy presentation, which is an amazing sight. A special thank you needs to go out to all that are on the planning group for all their support and dedication in making this a Christian centered show, Bill and Sandy Scott, Bill and Vicky Thomas, Ed and Chris Rash, Pat and Taffnee Tucker, Frank and Nancy Brewster, Al and Ruth Penner, Dale and Gina McBride, Fred and Anna Marie Brown, Mike and Joyce Foster, Tony and Susan Rogers and Tom and Cindy McMahon. Thank you to those who helped decorate for the show and Mike Cliff for announcing this year. Thank you to all the staff for your encouragement what a great team for Christ!

Coming Soon – A couple of events that will be coming up
October 31st we will have Trunk and Treat here at the church on Wednesday evening. There will be prizes given away for the top 3 best decorated trunks and come enjoy in evening of fellowship. There is a sign-up sheet located in the foyer, please look to see how you may be involved with this fun activity with our children.
November 11th the 2’s through Kindergarten will be doing our children’s program, Sunday evening. As time gets closer there will be a post card in your child’s bag. We have started practicing the songs that we will be singing. All practices will be Wednesday evening during service time.
Thanks everyone that helped September 19th with our horse back riding. We had 24 kids and 16 adults. Thanks to Kelly and Andy Smallwood, Madison Hockett, Naomi and Quincie Walls for sharing their horses with us and allowing us to come and ride the horses and pet the donkey. Charles and Donna McClure for being our wonderful bus drivers (where ever we go, they go with us). We had a wonderful time, if you don’t believe me ask any of the children!
In the Building Block area, we have snacks during each service on Sundays and Wednesday evening. If you would like to donate items to the Building Block area, here is a list of items: mini vanilla wafers, mini club crackers, big bag Fruit Loops or cereal, gold fish, animal crackers, paper bags, snack cups (3oz.). You may drop them off at the check in counter. Thank you for your contribution.
Please make sure that when you come to pick up your child, the child has finished their snack or they need to throw it in the trash before leaving the room. This will help keep our church building looking nice as well.
If you have a child that brings an item to church, make sure that the child’s name is on the item. This will help the workers in the room to know which bag belongs to which child. If you need a sticker, please ask the ladies at the check in desk for help.
Building Block area security – To help with this, we are asking that only one family member (14 years of age or older) pick up the children. This will help our security personnel keep our nursery – preschool area secure. If we have several adults with older children go in to pick up one or two children, then our secure area is no longer secure. Thank you for your help in this matter.
It is that time of year when we start getting colds or the sniffles. If your child is sick or hasn’t felt well in the past 24 to 48 hours, please keep them out of the nursery and preschool area. If your child has had a fever in the last 48 hours please keep them out of the nursery – preschool area. This will help from spreading sickness.
Several easy steps to take to help from spreading germs: 1) Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or elbow when you cough or sneeze, 2) Wash your hands often with soap and water, 3) Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth, 4) Use disinfectants on frequently touched surfaces (germs can spread when a person touches an infected surface and then touches their own eyes, mouth or nose). There is hand sanitizers located at the entrance of the Building Block area.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. No one likes to have their children come home sick.

Jesus Prom 2018 is just around the corner! We were so blessed by the success of Jesus Prom 2017 and we are looking forward to another life-changing event. Remember, Jesus Prom is a dinner and a dance for our friends with disabilities on November 9th at 6:00pm. It is a free event for ages 10+ and caregivers are encouraged to come and enjoy respite care.
We need many volunteers to make this happen. Every participant will be paired with a volunteer (“buddy”) who will spend the evening with them. Buddies are our greatest need because of the large amount of participants. It is also the most fun!
There are ways to get involved at every comfort level. We need greeters, servers, decorators, etc. There is a table in the foyer where you can sign up to volunteer!
Do you have a friend or family member with special needs? Bring them along with you and spend the evening having fun together!
For more information, call the church office at 620-289-4433 or email Anneliese Beye at firstname.lastname@example.org
Around the World in 80 Seconds
For the first time in history, there are more missionaries being sent out from non-western countries than from western countries (U.S. and Europe).
Africans are being sent to other parts of Africa. South Koreans are going to the Muslim world and Europe. Latinos are also going to the 10/40 window. It’s exciting to see how God is using His worldwide Church to reach people groups that have been so difficult to impact!
Roger and Elaine Twitchell recently attended the Global Member Care Conference in Quito, Ecuador to learn how to better care for missionaries working in a myriad of different contexts. Please pray for the Twitchells to have God’s heart as they provide pastoral care for global workers.

Parents, want to stay updated? I would like to send you weekly emails to you about what we’re learning and future events. Please text your name and your email to (620) 205-6668.
Wednesday Nights @7:00 PM
Doors open at 6:30 PM! Expect every Wednesday to have fun, play games, worship together and learn how to apply the Bible to our lives. We often have food. Bring your friends! Any 7th-12th grader is welcome!
Sunday Nights @6:00 PM
Parents, you need to know this info! Our Teen Life Groups function much like adult home groups. They meet at the church and are led by an adult. Each group is divided by gender and roughly by age. This is our main form of discipleship and pastoral care for students! They will be able to build God-honoring relationships with others, encourage one another through ups and downs of life, and spur one another on to continue to grow closer with Jesus. Don’t miss this opportunity! YOU HAVE TO SIGN UP TO BE IN A LIFE GROUP. Forms are on the info desk. This is not a time to just “drop” the student off. There are no Sunday Night activities for those not in a life group unless there is a special activity. Contact Kendall for more info.
Sr. high Conference at OCC
$40. November 2nd -3rd. Leave at 3:00pm and head to Joplin to eat dinner and register. The worship band this year is Carrolton! They are great! You often hear their songs on the radio. Sign up in the teen building and be sure to pick up both forms, the OCC Event form and the Pink Permission Slip.
NEW FAMILY EVENT!!!!
Trip to Nightmare/Main Event – 7th-12th AND their families! $35. Saturday, October 13th we are going to Tulsa for a day of fun. We will leave the church at 2 pm and head to The Main Event. Each person will be able to play 1 hour of bowling, one round of laser tag, $10 in arcade money and dinner is provided. We will spend from 3:30-6:00 pm at the Main Event and then we will head to Nightmare at Guts Church which is a faith-based spook house. Trust me, it’s scary. Their website says “it is a graphic walk-through presentation of real-life, modern-day struggles challenging our world today. These struggles, without the price Jesus paid on the cross, leave many lost and without hope in the world.” Join us for this exciting family trip! We will get home approximately 11 pm. Sign up in the teen building! Payment is required by October 10.
You can provide your own transportation for your family (please caravan) or ride with us by bus. You can also choose to opt out of the full group rate package if you want to go but need to save money. Please contact Kendall for more information on that! A short (mandatory) parent meeting will be held October 7th after 1st service and 2nd service for those attending.
