What kind of church is Tyro Christian?
In short, we are a Bible-based, Christ-centered church. We have no denominational affiliation. We have no creed but Christ and no book but the Bible. That means that the Bible is our ultimate authority on all matters of faith and life. Our prayer, hope and goal is that everyone connected to our local church would grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
What should I expect if I come to one of your services?
Pretty simple. We sing together. We hear God’s Word (The Bible) taught. And we take communion.
What should I wear?
Come as you. People dress in anything from blue jeans & t-shirts to polos & khakis to dresses to button up shirts with a tie. Dress in whatever is comfortable for you. We couldn't be more thrilled to have you join us.
How long are the services?
A typical Sunday morning service lasts about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Sunday evening usually lasts about 1 hour.
Is there a place for my kids?
Great question! We love kids of all ages here!
You are more than welcome to keep your children with you during the services if you'd like; Or...
For nursery age (Newborn-Kindergarten), we have a secure nursery area where they can spend the service doing age appropriate activities.
For 1st grade- 6th grade you can send them to our children's area (We call it the Faith Factory) where there is a specific church service designed just for them.
For those in Jr High and older, they are encouraged to join the rest of the congregation in the regular worship service in the main auditorium.
How do I check my kids in and out of the Nursery & Children's areas?
At the entrance of both the nursery and the Faith Factory (children’s area), there are computers where you can check in your child. Just follow the instructions on the screen and you will receive two printouts. Both the child and a parent is to have a sticker so that after the service only the parent with that sticker can retrieve their child from the area. We take security and safety very seriously. We want you to feel comfortable with us concerning your children.
Do I have to give money?
Only if you want to. As a matter of fact, if you are a guest, we prefer you don’t give. Offering is for our members and regular attenders.
What other weekly programs/activities do you offer?
Several! In between the 8:30 & 11:00 AM services, we have Sunday School (at 10:00 AM). We have several for all ages. We also offer you the opportunity to join a “home group.” These groups meet in homes around the region, often serve food, have a good time and examine our lives and God's Word. Different groups meet on different nights of the week. On Sunday evenings, during the regular church service in the auditorium, there are Nursery, Children's, Teens, and College Age activities in different parts of our building.
If you are interested in getting connected to any of these classes/programs, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the church office at (620) 289-4433.
